Chaddick Dance Theater gave its debut performance as a member of the Austin arts commmunity in 2008 at the Austin Ventures Studio Theatre. With three premieres all created in Austin, choreographer Cheryl Chaddick marked the start of the next phase of her artistic career.
A native Texan, Cheryl Chaddick had founded a company in San Francisco in 1985 that went on to become an acclaimed part of the Bay Area arts community. After celebrating the 21st anniversary of her company in San Francisco, she was drawn back to Texas by the people and by the vibrant art scene of this growing city.
A seasoned and mature artist, her work is open, emotional, straightforward and down-to-earth - qualities that she shares with the people of Texas. Her artistic language is rooted in movements that grow out of authentic emotions. It’s the movement that carries the message, not theatrics or stage dressing. It's physical, demanding and exciting work that pushes her dancers to explore their limits as movers and performers.
Now in its third year and a growing part of the Austin community, Chaddick Dance Theater offers ongoing intermediate and advanced dance classes and workshops, and company performances that excite audiences and garner critical acclaim.
